Biography
Born in 1922 in Prizren. Studying in the seventh grade of high school, she became an activist of the school department of the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia . In the autumn of 1939 she was accepted to the KPU . He was expelled from the Prizren school after he installed a red star on the building of the old prince fortress on May 1, 1940 (Jovanka and her brother Aleksandar were arrested). She studied in Pec , later moved to Tetovo.
In April 1941, Jovanka fled from home after the Italians and Albanians occupied Kosovo . The girl joined the anti-fascist underground, taking the post of secretary of the Kosovo district committee of the KPU and joining the Prizrensky town committee of the KPU. Often sent to the job in Urosevac . At the end of 1942 she was transferred to Kosovska Mitrovica, becoming the secretary of the local branch of the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia. In May 1943, she participated in the Congress of the CPU, at which it was decided to start active armed uprisings in Kosovo.
In May 1943, she was arrested by agents of the Gestapo and, after ineffective interrogations, was shot. Posthumously awarded the title of People's Hero July 6, 1953 .
