Diocese of Hirta ( Latin: Dioecesis Hirtensis ) is the abolished diocese of the Assyrian Church of the East , currently the titular diocese of the Roman Catholic and Chaldean Catholic churches.

History
The ancient city of Hirta, identified with archaeological sites located nearby the Iraqi city of An Najaf , from 410 to 1012 was the center of the eponymous diocese of the Assyrian church of the East. The Diocese of Hirta was directly subordinate to the Assyrian Catholicos of Seleucia .
Before the schism in 484, the bishops of Hirta were in communion with the rest of the Christian churches. Two bishops of Hirta are known during this period.
Since 2004, the Diocese of Hirta has been the titular diocese of the Roman Catholic and Chaldean Catholic churches.
