Collection Budé or Collection des Universités de France - a book series that includes Greek and Roman classical literature until the VI century (before the emperor Justinian ). The series is named after the French humanist Guillaume Budet , published by Les Belles Lettres and sponsored by the Guillaume Budet Society .
Each book in the series includes an introduction, notes and criticism, as well as a title page in French. Some volumes contain full comments. The volumes of ancient Greek literature depict an owl , the symbol of Athens , their cover is yellow. Latin volumes of red with the image of the Capitoline Wolf . The last volumes come in hardcover. The new series, Classiques en poche (Pocket Classic), is designed for students.
The first book in the series, the Platonic dialogue Hippus the Younger , was published in 1920. Soon the first book in Latin appeared, it was De rerum natura Lucretius .
Over 800 volumes have been published, of which about 430 are Greek and about 370 are Latin. The series presents both pagan and Christian authors.
