Taseşehr ( Persian تازهشهر ) is a small town in the north-west of Iran , in the province of Western Azerbaijan . It is part of the Selmas shakhrestan .

Geography
The city is located in the central part of Western Azerbaijan, north of the Zolachay River , at a distance of approximately 72 kilometers north-north-west (NNW) from Urmia , the provincial capital, and 635 kilometers north-west of Tehran , the country's capital. The absolute height is 1459 meters above sea level [1] . The nearest airport is located in the city of Hoi [1] .

According to the 2006 census, the population was 8,216 people [2] .
