Youth Ice Hockey World Championships 2000

The 24th Youth Ice Hockey World Championship was held from December 25, 1999 to January 4, 2000 in ShellefteΓ₯ and UmeΓ₯ ( Sweden ). For the first time in its history, the Czech Republic team became the champion, defeating the Russian team in shootouts with a score of 1: 0 in the final. The bronze medal was won by the Canadian team , which won the match for the third place to the USA team - 4: 3 in shootouts.

The best scorer of the championship was the player of the national team of Sweden Henrik Sedin , who scored 13 (4 + 9) points for performance. American Rick Dipietro was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the tournament, Russian Alexander Ryazantsev was the best defender, and Milan Kraft was the best striker.

Consolation Round

Teams bring out the best in a two-game series. Since the teams scored one victory, after the second match, a 10-minute overtime was appointed to determine the winner. After ten minutes, the score was never opened and the teams broke through the bullets . Slovakia team won and took ninth place. The Ukrainian team that lost the series takes the tenth place in the tournament and goes into the first division of the 2001 World Championship .
