Unconditional basic income
From 2008 to 2009, an experimental social program “Basic Income Grant” was held in Omitar and Ochivero in order to get the population an unconditional basic income . Each citizen under 60 was paid 100 Namibian dollars a month. Senior citizens (over 60) received $ 450N per month. Photos of the village of Ochevero were compared before and after the Basic Income Grant [1] .
After the experiment, it was concluded that crime , malnutrition, and lack of nutrition in children at school caused by low living standards began to decrease during the Basic Income Grant. Workers and church organizations created the "Community for Unconditional Basic Income."
In December 2009, a calculation was made, according to which a sum of $ 80N per month was allocated to residents to maintain a normal standard of living [2] .
