Honored Artist of Russia Lyudmila Yakovlevna Kudryavtseva is 67 years old. This time distance is filled with very different historical nuances of the perception of life and attitudes to it, the rethinking of values and ways of developing culture and art. Behind the shoulders of the artist is a difficult childhood in the post-war years (born in Perm); professional studies at the Sverdlovsk art school (1960-1965), where the atmosphere of creative search reigned; trips to the creative cottage "Dzintari" in Jurmala (1974, 1976); work in a tapestry group led by R. Heimrat; unforgettable trips to India, Nepal (1979); Participation in 150 art exhibitions of all ranks - from regional to international.
Huge life and artistic experience, combined with the lively receptivity of everything new, inexhaustible imagination and hard work, have led to the manifestation of various facets in creativity.
Since the late 1960s, Lyudmila Yakovlevna declared herself as a tapestry master. In the 1990s she has spatial, three-dimensional objects in textiles, in 1995 - batiks. Handmade paper experiments in the early 2000s allowed to carry out the series “Sacred History”, participation in 2006 in the project “In Memory of a Masterpiece”, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the birth of Rembrandt and his creation “Danae”, stimulated painting practice. In 2007-2008 ideas appeared, the disclosure of which is associated with the creation of installations. In various types of arts and crafts, in painting, the artist reveals her thoughts and feelings about the world. For her, it is the present on a planetary scale, which carries with it the memory of the past, the standards of the highest achievements of human inspiration. Therefore, the reproduction and artistic improvisations on the themes of ancient Greece, India, Japan, Venice, Spain of the time of Goya, St. Petersburg of the 18th century are explainable. The birth of the design of the works is perhaps one of the most mysterious moments of the artist’s creative process. With Lyudmila Kudryavtseva, literary works, historical materials or travel impressions often serve as the impetus for work.
A traditional classical tapestry with a tight weave of threads with recognizable graphic forms and picturesque and coloristic searches is a creative role and a visiting card of the artist. “Breakfast on the Grass” (1985), “The Abduction of Europe” (1989, author's repetition 1993), “Afternoon Rest of the Nymphs” (1992), “The Third Eye of the Buddha” (1988), “On the Blessed Day” (1995), “I Love Peter, you creation! ”(2003),“ Children of the war. 1948 ”(1989),“ Wonderful pictures of childhood ”(1988),“ The Moon the Perfect ”(1991) - the subject of the works is the most diverse and serious. The master’s final solemn chord was the tapestry “I love you, Peter, creation!” (Size 290x285 cm), created on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Petersburg and adorning the residence of the President of Russia in the Konstantinovsky Palace in Strelna.
In recent years, the artist has been more and more fascinated by small forms of art. The technique of hot batik in planar panels, cushions, pillows effectively demonstrates the artist's coloristic talent. The desire to speak more fully, to reveal the topic brighterly gives rise to the principle of seriality in the work: “Blessed is the day, month, year and hour when my eyes met those eyes.” The 250th anniversary of the birth of F. Goya is dedicated. 17 subjects (1996); the composition “The Fourth Moon's Time is Beautiful”, dedication to Sei-Syonagon, X century (1997); “O India, O Tale” (1995).
In 1980, Lyudmila Kudryavtseva attended a graphic exhibition in Krakow, where she first saw experiments with hand-cast paper. For many years, the idea of “trying it myself” did not leave her, and in the early 2000s. the author’s technology for the production of such paper took on art forms in the grand series (47 sheets) of the Holy History according to the Bible. The history of the human race, the history of Russia, the genealogy of the family - everything is inextricable in the minds of L. Ya. Kudryavtseva. Who are you, where are you from? These questions compel her to study historical archival materials. Through the prism of the personal, the artist perceives the time of the silver age.
In 1913, her mother was born, on August 13 - herself. Magic number 13 gave impetus to the creation of a series of 8 sheets “Last summer of prosperity. Dedication to the ladies and gentlemen of 1913. " Embroideries preserved from mother and grandmother, toilet articles, cutlery, antique gizmos of that time inspired the idea of creating an exhibition dedicated to the Silver Age, which will include works of authorship: picturesque landscape views of the surroundings of St. Petersburg, portraits of poetesses and ladies of the silver age - M. Tsvetaeva, A. Akhmatova, I. Rubinshtein, L. Mendeleeva, M. Kshesinskaya, etc. (glass-ceramic painting), as well as installations.
The work of L. Ya. Kudryavtseva is highly appreciated by professionals and the public. In 1997, she was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia, she is a corresponding member of the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences and Arts.
