Biography

The son of famous archaeologists Academician V. V. Sedov (1924–2004) and Doctor of Historical Sciences M. V. Sedova (1930–2004); grandson of the poet Vladimir Lugovskogo . He graduated from the history department of the Moscow State University in 1983 ( Department of Art History ). Teachers: V. P. Vygolov, A. I. Komech , D. V. Sarabyanov , A. B. Sterligov, V. L. Yanin .

From 1983 to 1988 he worked at the Museum of Architecture. A. V. Shchusev , from 1988 to 1999 - at the State Institute of Art Studies , from 1999 to 2004 - at the Moscow Architectural Institute .

Since 2004 he has been working at the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences .

From 2015 - Head of the Department of History of Russian Art, Faculty of History, Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov.

Scientific Activities

  • excavations in Novgorod (Nikolo-Dvorishchensky Cathedral, the Church of Boris and Gleb in Okolotka, the Monastery of the Annunciation on Myachina , the Panteleimon Monastery , the Arkhozh Monastery , the St. George Cathedral of the Yuriev Monastery, the Church of the Annunciation on the Settlement)
  • excavations in Turkey (Dinar, ancient Apamea Kiobos or Keleny) in 2009 and 2010
  • excavations of the church of Boris and Gleb in Kideksha in 2011 and 2012
  • excavations of the church on Pyatnitsky creek in 2013
  • excavations of the Transfiguration Cathedral in Pereslavl-Zalessky in 2014

Field studies of a number of monuments of ancient Russian architecture, Byzantine monuments, archaeological trips to Turkey, Ukraine, Romania, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Greece, Syria, Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon and Italy.
