Biography
Born born February 19, 1919 in a peasant family. He studied at the Chagino rural school, then at the Kashin school, where he graduated from the 8th grade.
In 1936 he moved to the city of Podolsk, to his older brother. In the same year he entered the Podolsk Industrial College at the mining and blasting department.
In 1938, after completing 2 courses of the technical school, he entered the Air Force navigator school in Krasnodar.
In June 1940 he graduated from the school of navigators, received the rank of lieutenant. By order, he was sent as an observer pilot to the 46th bomber regiment of the 7th air division at the Siauliai airfield in Lithuania.
From June 1941 to July 1944, Vladimir Petrovich fought as part of the North-Western, Western and 3rd Belorussian fronts.
From June 20 to October 19, 1941 he served at the airport in Grudzhaia (Lithuania), made 9 sorties on Ar-2 aircraft. Later, he made 22 sorties from the Zhukovsky airfield.
In May 1942 he transferred to the 10th aviation reconnaissance regiment (Kubinka airfield), which included 118 sorties. He later served as the navigator of the squadron in Smolensk.
In November 1943, he left for Orenburg, where he entered the navigational faculty of the Military Academy (now the Air Force Academy named after Yu. A. Gagarin).
In 1944, being in practice, it made 9 sorties on an IL-10 plane, and again took part in hostilities.
In November 1946 he graduated from the Academy and was sent to the navigational service of the Air Force Main Staff, where he worked as an inspector, senior navigator.
In 1953, he was the chief navigator for the landing of the North Pole-4 expedition, during which, together with General Zakharov, he flew on an IL-28 plane in the direction of the North Pole, for which he was awarded the Order of the Red Star.
Since 1955, he successively held the post of chief navigator of aviation in the Tauride Military District , the 76th Air Army of the Leningrad Military District, the 24th Air Army (GDR), and the Air Force of the Moscow Military District.
From March 1971 to 1980 - the main navigator of the Air Force.
In 1974, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant general.
Over the years of flight service, Vladimir Bulanov mastered 36 types of aircraft and helicopters, including IL-28, Ar-2, Yak-27, Yak-28.
In 1980, he retired, worked for four years at the Civil Fleet Institute.
From April 2001 to the present - Head of the 6th Joint Council of Aviation and Airborne Veterans.
He lived in Moscow. He died on September 5, 2008. He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow.
