Biography

Konstantin Zakharov was born in April 1919 in Ivanovo-Voznesensk . He graduated from school, one course of the Ivanovo Chemical College and Aero Club. In 1937, Zakharov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1939, he graduated from the Perm Military Aviation School. From the first days of the Great Patriotic War - on its fronts. Took part in battles on the Western , Bryansk , Central and Belarusian fronts. He participated in the battle for Moscow , the Battle of Kursk . He flew the I-16 , MiG-3 , Yak-7b , Yak-9 aircraft [1] .

By January 1944, Captain Konstantin Zakharov commanded a squadron of the 233rd Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 234th Fighter Aviation Division of the 16th Air Army of the Belarusian Front. By that time, he had made 190 combat sorties, took part in 41 air combat, shooting down 16 enemy airplanes personally [2] . On January 13, 1944, during the storming of a German automobile column, when Zakharov's plane was shot down, the pilot sent him to the accumulation of enemy troops. He was buried in Mazyr [1] .

Awards

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 2, 1944, Captain Konstantin Zakharov was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union for "exemplary performance of the combat tasks of the command on the front against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown." He was also awarded the Order of Lenin , two Orders of the Red Banner , and the Order of the Patriotic War , 1st degree [1] .

Memory

A street in Ivanovo is named after Zakharov [1] .
