Passport of a citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan - an official document proving the identity of a citizen when traveling outside and staying outside the country, as well as when entering the state from a trip abroad. Introduced after Tajikistan gained independence in 1992. Biometric passport introduced in 2010. Previously issued old-style passports of a citizen of Tajikistan, remained valid until the end of the term. Issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Tajikistan abroad.

A passport with biometric data is issued to all citizens of the country, including minor children (if the minor needs to go abroad). Its validity is ten years, for children under 16 years old, from three to five years, depending on their age [2] . To obtain a biometric passport, fingerprints are taken, photographing and collecting the necessary documents are carried out.
Appearance of the old model
The passport is black, with the inscription ( Tajik. Ҷumgurii Toҷikiston ) “Republic of Tajikistan” and ( Tajik. Shinosnoma ) “Passport” in Tajik and English. The emblem of Tajikistan is applied in the center with gold stamping. The passport is made in Tajik and English. Unlike the old sample, the new biometric passport has 25 degrees of protection; for comparison, the old sample had 15 degrees of protection.
The old passport had a light blue color. The old non-biometric passport was made in Tajik, English and Russian.
