General Information
Telyana - one of the seven children of Jose and Maria Pereira; she has three brothers and three sisters.
All children of the family play tennis, Telyana in tennis from nine years old; favorite coating is soil. Now she, along with her younger brother Jose [2], is coached by her older brother Renato.
During the game, the Brazilian prefers to make quick counterattack actions from anywhere in the court. This manner of playing at some point led to problems with the knees, which is why Telyana did not play for thirteen months in 2009-10, having done a couple of operations.
Sports career
Telyana began her professional career in 2003. She won her first victories in tournaments from the ITF cycle in 2006. In April 2007, Pereira first played for the Brazilian national team in the qualifying matches of the Federation Cup . In May 2012, she first played in the main competitions of the WTA tour , taking part in the doubles tournament in Strasbourg together with Alexandrina Naydenova . By the end of 2012, the Brazilian had 16 single and another 10 pair trophies from ITF tournaments. In February 2013, she was able to make her debut on the WTA tour and alone. This happened at the tournament in Bogota , where Telyana, starting with the qualifications, was able to reach the semifinals. By the end of September of that year, Pereira first entered the first hundred of the world ranking.
In January 2014, Telyana first participated in the main draw of the Grand Slam tournament , speaking at the Australian Open . In the first round, she lost to Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova . In February, in her native Brazil, Pereira reached the semifinal of the ground tournament in Rio de Janeiro . In May, at the French Open, she entered the second round. The Wimbledon tournament ended for the Brazilian defeat in the first round from the third racket of the world Simone Halep . At the US Open , as at the beginning of the season in Australia, Pereira loses at the start of Pavlyuchenkova.
In April 2015, Pereira, being only 130th in the ranking, unexpectedly won her debut title. This event took place at a tournament in Bogota, where Telyana was able to beat Francesca Schiavone , Mandy Minella , Lourdes Dominguez Lino , Elina Svitolina and in the final, the representative of Kazakhstan Yaroslav Shvedova . This success allowed her to go up 51 lines and take 81st place in the rating. In May, she made her way through the qualification for the French Open and lost in the second round of No. 9 in the world at that time to Ekaterina Makarova . At Wimbledon 2015, she loses in the first round. In July, Pereira achieved another title by winning the tournament in Florianopolis . During the tournament, she was opposed by rivals from the second hundred of the rating and only in the final did she compete with the 68th in the world Annika Beck , defeating her with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. At the US Open in the first round, Pereira loses to Ekaterina Makarova. She finished the season of 2015 in the Top 50, taking 45th place.
In the 2016 season, Pereira's results have declined. For the whole season, she could not go on tournaments beyond the second round. In August, Telyana took part in the first Olympic Games for herself, which took place in her homeland in Rio de Janeiro . In the single and women's doubles tournament, she dropped out in the first round, and in the mixed pairs competition she was able to win one match with Marcelo Melo and reached the quarter finals.
