Sports Biography
At first, Calvert Strong was involved in American football, but after a while he switched to swimming and water polo. After leaving school, Strong entered Stanford University , where he continued to play water polo.
In 1932, Calvert Strong, as part of the US national team, took part in the Los Angeles Summer Olympics . Wildman, like most players in the American team, represented the local Los Angeles Athletic Club . The first two matches were quite easy for the Americans. First, the Brazilians were defeated 6: 1, and then the Japanese national team 10: 0. In the third round of the US national team, the reigning champions of the Olympic Games were opposed by the German national team and the Americans managed to draw 4: 4 with the Germans. In the final match, the US team was unable to oppose the Hungarian team and lost 0: 7. As a result of the tournament, American water polo players won bronze medals.
