Biography

Vladimir Zarembo was born on May 24, 1923 in Zhytomyr . He graduated from high school, after which he worked as a duty radio technician in the radio center of Mirgorod . In October 1941, Zarembo was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1942 he graduated from the course of junior lieutenants. Since April of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in battles on the Bryansk , Central , Voronezh and 1st Ukrainian fronts, was wounded twice. Participated in the Battle of Kursk , the liberation of the Ukrainian SSR . By the autumn of 1943, Lieutenant Vladimir Zarembo commanded the 8th company of the 310th rifle regiment of the 8th rifle division of the 13th Army of the Central Front. Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper [1] .

The company of Zarembo crossed the Dnieper to the north of Kiev and seized a bridgehead on its western shore. German troops launched a series of counterattacks, but all of them were successfully repulsed. In the battle, Zarembo was wounded, but continued to fight [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, for "courage and bravery shown in battles during the crossing of the Dnieper", Lieutenant Vladimir Zarembo was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal No. 2047 [1] .

After the war, Zarembo continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1947 he graduated from the Frunze Military Academy . In 1967, the rank of Colonel Zarembo was dismissed. He lived in Uzhgorod , taught at Uzhgorod State University . He died on June 5, 1992, and was buried on Uzhgorod Hill of Glory [1] .

He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War , 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
