In 1942, Zamanov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since June 1943 - on the fronts of World War II, he was a shooter of the 465th Infantry Regiment of the 167th Infantry Division of the 38th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .

On September 25, 1943, Zamanov, as part of his unit, crossed the Dnieper north of Kiev and took an active part in the seizure of the bridgehead on its western shore, and then held it for the next month, repelling numerous German counterattacks.
