Biography
Gali Zakirov was born in 1910 in the village of Rich Saby (now - Sabinsky District of Tatarstan ). Received primary education, after which he worked on the collective farm . In 1940, he moved to the village of Ilinka, Leninsky District, North Kazakhstan Region of the Kazakh SSR , where he worked at a machine-tractor station [1] . In 1941, Zakirov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since July of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By October 1943, the junior sergeant Gali Zakirov of the Guards commanded the rifle squad of the 3rd Battalion of the 8th Guards Airborne Regiment of the 3rd Guards Airborne Division of the 60th Army of the Voronezh Front . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper [2] .
On October 9, 1943, in battles on the bridgehead on the west bank of the Dnieper near the village of Yasnogorodka in the Vyshgorodsky district of the Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR, Zakirov actively participated in repelling German counterattacks, destroying enemy infantry near the company. Zakirov's actions contributed to the successful advance of the regiment units [2] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 10, 1944, the junior sergeant Gali Zakirov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union to the Guard. By the same Decree, he was awarded the Order of Lenin [2] .
He died in February 1944 in battles for the liberation of the Ukrainian SSR [2] .
