Museum-apartment of I. A. Brodsky

The Joseph Brodsky Museum Foundation is a legal entity that owns part of the apartment in the Muruzi house (St. Petersburg, Liteiny pr., D.24), where the poet and his parents lived. The fund has its own seal, stamp, emblem.

• Aryev Andrey Yuryevich - literary critic, critic, prose writer, co-editor of the magazine "Star" .
• Gordin Yakov Arkadevich - historian, publicist, co-editor of the magazine "Star" .
• Kobak Alexander Valerievich - Executive Director of the D.S. Likhachev International Charitable Fund.
• Leykind Oleg Leonidovich - Deputy Executive Director of the D.S. Likhachev International Charitable Fund.
• Margolis Alexander Davidovich - Chairman of the St. Petersburg branch of VOOPIiK
• Romanenko Alexander Yuryevich - President of Adveks Corporation.

In 1998, Dmitry Likhachev , Daniil Granin , Mikhail Piotrovsky , Galina Vishnevskaya , Mstislav Rostropovich , A.P. Petrov, Nobel Prize winners Cheslav Milosh , Wislaw Shimborska . D. Walcott and other prominent figures of Russian and foreign culture turned to the governor of St. Petersburg V. A. Yakovlev with a letter in which they asked for help in creating the museum. The governor's response was positive, but nothing was done in practice.

Nevertheless, when Valentina Matvienko became the governor of St. Petersburg, the Foundation for the Creation of the Joseph Brodsky Museum at the expense of Alfa Bank , OJSC TNK-BP Management (Moscow) and the group of construction companies CDS (St. Petersburg) managed to buy four of the five rooms of the communal apartments where Joseph Brodsky lived with his parents, on Pestelya street, 27 / Liteiny prospect, 24.

In November 2014, with the support of the then vice-governor of St. Petersburg for Culture, Vasily Kichedzhi , Terra Nova, ZAO Marine Façade, donated a large sum for the repair of emergency ceilings in the apartment and the redevelopment project was developed by the Anna Museum staff Akhmatova compiled a temporary exposure.

On May 24, 2015, the redeemed space belonging to the Fund was opened for visitors under the slogan “Brodsky Museum in St. Petersburg will open in one day”. However, the apartment remained a residential building, and for transferring it into non-residential status, the last room of a communal apartment must be bought out or shared.

In 2018, the Fund has a Board of Trustees. It is headed by Maxim Levchenko, a businessman and managing partner of FortGroup. The Board of Trustees also includes Victoria Shamlikashvili, Thaddeus and Lina Perlov, Konstantin Krutilnikov and Kristina Berezovskaya.

Since 2012, the Foundation has been actively engaged in cultural and educational activities to popularize the work of Joseph Brodsky. In addition to a variety of creative meetings, concerts, performances, demonstrations of films dedicated to Joseph Brodsky, there were:

• assisted in the filming of the film "Sentimental Journey with Joseph Brodsky";
• organized a mobile photo exhibition "Joseph Brodsky: pages of a lived life", which was shown in St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Konosha, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara and Izhevsk;
• a Nobel concert was held at the Hermitage Theater , dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Joseph Brodsky receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature ^[1] , 2013;
• a multimedia exhibition “One and a half rooms” was organized on Malaya Sadovaya Street ^[2] in St. Petersburg and Moscow ^[3] , 2013;
• the first Joseph Brodsky Poetical Contest “Criteria of Freedom” ^[4] , 2014;
• a house was bought in the village of Norinsky Konoshsky district of the Arkhangelsk region, where a museum of peasant life was organized (2013);
• assistance was provided in the restoration of the Pesterevs' house in the village of Norinskaya, where Brodsky lived in exile (1964-1965), and in the creation of a museum exposition there (2015);
• postcards dedicated to Joseph Brodsky were published;
• In March 2017, the Foundation launched the “Part of Speech” lecture hall, in the framework of which monthly lectures on literature, philosophy and art are held in One and a half rooms in the Muruzi house. Lectures were given by Yakov Gordin , Konstantin Azadovsky , Andrey Aryev ;
• On December 10, 2017, a conference was held dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Brodsky's Nobel Prize in Literature ^[5] , a concert in the Hermitage Theater ^[6] , and the photo exhibition “One and a half rooms of Joseph Brodsky” ^{[7] [8]}
