Indus Rizakovich Tagirov ( Tat. Indus Rizak uly Tahirov ; born May 24, 1936 ) - Soviet and Russian historian and public figure, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan (since 1995). Member of the State Council of the Republic of Tajikistan in 1995-2009. One of the organizers and the first chairman of the executive committee of the World Congress of Tatars (in 1992-2002). Brother of the historian E. Tagirova .

Biography
He worked at Kazan University after graduating in 1963. Since 1966 - assistant of the Department of Russian History, in 1967 he defended his thesis “Establishment of Sov. authorities in Kazan (about the peculiarity of the struggle for the victory of the proletarian revolution on the ground). ” Since 1975 - Associate Professor . In 1979 he defended his doctoral dissertation "The revolutionary struggle and national liberation movements in the Volga region and in the Urals (March 1917 - March 1918)." Since 1980 - professor , in 1980-1995, Dean of the Faculty of History of KSU (now Institute of History of KFU ). Since 1983 - head of the department of history of the USSR (since 1992 it has been renamed the department of modern Russian history), and in years he is a head of the department of national history in AliExpress. Since 1994 - Chairman of the specialized council at Kazan University for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations. Prepared 3 doctors and 30 candidates of sciences.
The main scientific studies concern the history of revolutionary and national movements in Russia, nation-state building in Tatarstan.
