The Federation of Universities of the Islamic World ( Arabic. اتحاد جامعات العالم الإسلامي ) is an international Muslim organization within the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture . FUIM was established in 1987 and specializes in promoting higher education and promoting cooperation among its institutions. The headquarters is in Rabat . Membership in the Federation is open to all national universities. Joining the Federation opens up prospects for the exchange of teachers and students for the university. Today, FUIM includes 230 both secular and Muslim universities in the Near, Middle and Far East, Africa, Europe and the USA. The governing body is the Executive Committee of the Federation . The Executive Committee includes 12 universities. Rector of the Islamic University Azad Abdullah Jasbi (Iran) was elected Chairman of the Executive Committee.

After the visit of ISESCO Secretary General Abdelaziz at-Twijri to Russia in 2009, the Russian Islamic University (Kazan) was included in the Federation and the Russian Islamic University (Ufa) was later included. A few years later, RIU (Kazan) was approved as a member of the Executive Committee. The representative of ISESCO and FUIM in Russia is a member of the ISESCO Higher Council, Professor Said Khaibulovich Kamyalev ( IW RAS ).
