Listed below are the stadiums of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) with a capacity of 1,000 or more people. They are sorted by the maximum number of viewers that can accommodate. The GAA is a pan-Irish public organization operating both in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland , as well as in other countries, primarily among the Irish diaspora in England , the USA and Canada . The main objective of the association is the development and popularization of traditional Irish sports, including Gaelic football and Hurling , which are the two most popular sports games among the Irish. The largest GAA stadium, Croke Park in Dublin , has traditionally been used to hold quarter- and semifinal matches, as well as the All-Ireland finals of the senior football and hurling championships. In addition, the stadium sometimes hosts the finals of the championships of the provinces of Leicester and Ulster in Gaelic football, concerts and competitions in non-Gaelic sports, in particular in socker and rugby . In 1947 , in commemoration of the centenary of the Great Famine in Ireland, which caused mass emigration to the USA, the All-Ireland Gaelic football final took place at the Polo Grounds football and baseball stadium in New York . In 1984, the All-Ireland Hurling Final was played at the Sample Stadium in honor of the centenary of the founding of the GAA in Turles .
Unlike the Sokker, it is not customary for GAA stadiums to separate fans from different teams.
