Geography
Located in the southwestern part of the department, 18 km west of the administrative center of the department, Florida . It is located at the intersection of motorway number 76 with the Montevideo - Paso de los Toros railway line. The absolute height is 51 meters above sea level [1] .
History
The village was founded on September 1, 1875 under the name Isla Mala. It got its modern name on July 17, 1918, according to the decree No. 6.196 [2] . January 18, 1985 received the status of a city ( Villa ) according to the decree No. 15.706 [3] .
