Kazimir Bartoshevich ( Polish: Kazimierz Bartoszewicz ; November 19, 1852, Warsaw - January 20, 1930, Krakow) - Polish historian, publicist, satirist, writer, editor, publisher and collector of works of art.

Biography

Born in the family of the Polish historian Yu. Bartoshevich . He studied philosophy and law at the Jagiellonian University . In 1879-1893 - the owner of a bookstore and printing house in Krakow, which published collected works of famous Polish authors.

Organizer of literary and cultural life of Krakow and publisher of classics of Polish literature.

Creativity

He made his debut while still a student in 1867 in the newspapers Zorza and Kurier Świąteczny. The author of a number of popular science works. In addition to many articles on history and literature in the periodical press, he published a number of works on book science and book publishing.

He collaborated with the largest print media in Poland and Galicia, in which he placed historical and economic essays, feuilletons, satirical articles (in verse and prose). As a satirist ridiculed the socialists and the " little men ".

During his 60 years of literary work, he created and edited many print publications:

  • "Szkice Społeczne i Literackie" (1875-1876)
  • "Diabeł" (1875-1879)
  • "Przegląd Literacki i Artystyczny" (1882-1886)
  • Ananas (1885-1897)
  • “Kurier Krakowski” (1888-1889)
  • "Przegląd literacki" (1896-1899).

The library inherited from the father-historian, replenished with its many years of acquisitions, was bequeathed to the Lodz City Public Library. In 1928-1930 he donated to Lodz his collection of works of art, including paintings by Arthur Grotger , J.P. Norblen de la Gourdain , Alexander Kotsis , Vitold Pruszkowski , Jozef Helmonsky , Jacek Malchevsky and others.

His gift became the basis for the Lodz Museum of Art.
