Bakalskaya Spit ( Ukrainian: Bakalska Spit , Crimean-Tat. Baqqal beli, Bakal Beli ) - a spit in the north-west of the Crimean Peninsula. Spit for the summer season is one of the recreation areas of the North-Western Crimea, including the Razdolnensky district. On the territory of the spit is the landscape and recreational park “Bakalskaya Spit” , created in 2000 [2] . In 2013, the northern tip of the spit, due to anthropogenic and hydrogenic activity, turned into an island (with the former extreme point of the spit, Cape Peschany), separated by a strait.

Geography
A spit stretched from southeast to northwest and deeply protruding into the waters of the Karkinitsky Bay of the Black Sea [3] . It is located between Lake Bakalsky and Bakalsky Bay , then it narrows in the north and passes to Cape Peschany with the extension of land, where the lighthouse (now inactive) is located. [3]
Length - about 12 km, of which about 5 km deeply protrude into the Black Sea [3] .
The highest point is 1.3 m [3] .
The coastline is shallow [3] .
Along the spit there is only one road (of local importance) with a hard surface ( asphalt ) from the village of Stereguschoe to the narrowed section in the north [3] .
The relief is low-lying, with several small lakes and salt marshes [3] .
The spit is endangered due to the activities of the sea (hydrological processes): strong winter storms wash and erode the land of the object. The storms of 2005 and 2007 caused severe damage to the nature and infrastructure of the spit and landscape park [4] . In the summer of 2010, due to the large illegal extraction of sand, Cape Peschany finally turned into an island destroyed by waves.
Population
At the southern tip of the spit is the nearest settlement - the village of Steregushchey [3] .
