Zhou Xiaozhou ( Chinese trad. 周小舟 , pinyin : Zhōu Xiǎozhōu , November 11, 1912 - December 26, 1966 ) - the first secretary of the Communist Party of Hunan Province .
Biography
Zhou Xiaozhou was born on November 11, 1912 in Xiangtan District, Hunan Province . In 1925 he studied at school, participated in the patriotic movement of students. In May 1927 he joined the Chinese Communist youth. In the autumn of the same year he entered Hunan University, which he graduated in 1929. In the fall of 1931, he was accepted into the Beijing Pedagogical University, actively participating in anti-Japanese activities. In 1934, he participated in the organization of the “One, Two, Nine” Armed Self-Defense Committee of the Chinese Nation ( Kit. 一 二九 , and Er Tszyu ), and is one of its main leaders. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China , he served as party secretary in Hunan Province .
Together with Peng Dehuai , Zhang Wentian and Huang Kecheng, Zhou Xiaozhou criticized the “ big leap .” [1] So, he was convicted during the Cultural Revolution. December 26, 1966 committed suicide by taking a large dose of sleeping pills. It is believed that this was due to the fact that Mao Zedong’s birthday also falls on December 26th. [2] On February 15, 1979, the CPC Central Committee was fully rehabilitated.
