The art studio Julia Madernieka ( Latvian. Jūlija Madernieka Zīmēšanas un gleznošanas darbnīca ) is a private art studio of the painter, designer, graphic artist, founder and popularizer of Latvian professional applied art Julia Madernieka, who worked in Riga from 1904 to 1914.
Content
History
The studio was created in 1904 by the artist Julius Maderniek , after several years of his work as a teacher of composition and drawing in various Riga educational institutions.
Students of the studio were engaged in drawing, painting and arts and crafts under the supervision of a master who proposed a new organization and methodology for teaching drawing with a priority in teaching the distribution of objects and figures in space, establishing the ratio of volumes, light and shadow, their color scheme.
After the outbreak of World War I, the studio stopped working and no longer resumed its activities.
In different years, the artists who later became famous were Latvian artists - Janis Dombrovskis , Ansis Cirulis , Albert Filka , Hugo Grotuss , Roman Suta , Ludolf Liberts , Janis Liepins , Atis Maisitis , Niklavs Strunke , Karlis Miesnieks , Augustis Pinnis , Augustis 1] .
