Negruzzi, Jacob

Jacob Negruzzi ( rum. Iacob Negruzzi , in ESB and some sources based on it, was transferred as Jaco; December 31, 1843 - January 6, 1932 , Bucharest ) - Moldavian and Romanian poet, writer, playwright, literary critic, journalist. Professor of commercial (commercial) law in Iasi , then at the University of Bucharest . Doctor of Philosophy (1863). Chairman of the Romanian Academy (1893-1894).

Biography

The son of Konstake Negrutstsi (1808-1868), a Moldovan and Romanian writer [3] .

Jacob Negruzzi

In 1863, in Iasi , together with four other young people who subsequently gained great fame - Petra Karp, Theodor Rossetti, Vasile Pogor and Titus Mayorescu - founded the literary circle "Junimya" ("Youth"). Friends acquired a printing house and began to publish their magazine Convorbiri literare (Literary Conversations). Jacob Negrutstsi was the secretary of the literary society "Junima" and the editor of the journal "Literary Conversations" (Convorbiri literare).

Later, the editors of the magazine and the Junimya Society moved to Bucharest. This literary society quickly gained authority. Subsequently, Zhunimya turned into a conservative political organization and even participated in government elections.

Until 1884 - professor of commercial law at the University of Iasi, then until 1897 he taught at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest.

Creativity

The author of many poetic and prose works, lyric poems and ballads, characterized by simplicity and humor. He wrote the novel "Mihaiu Vereanu" (1873).
