Story

The Sega Mega Drive / Genesis version tells how a man named James Howlet against his will became a participant in an experiment conducted by an unknown organization. The plans of this organization were to create a super-soldier invulnerable to the enemy. During the operation, a skeleton was implanted in Logan's body, consisting of a super-strong substance - adamantium ; he also gained the ability to quickly recover from injuries. During the final stage of the operation, Logan suddenly came to his senses and destroyed the capsule in which he was. Now he must, using his abilities, break out of the laboratory.

The plot of the version for SNES is slightly different. Wolverine receives a cryptic message from a man who knows some details about Logan's past. The search for this man leads Wolverine to a military base located in Canada. Here he has to find a few clues and learn about the secret of his past.

Gameplay

Shot from the version for Sega Mega Drive / Genesis

The game is a platformer with side side scrolling and two-dimensional graphics and consists of several levels .

Versions of the game differ in the locations where the action takes place, but they have a similar gameplay. One of the X-Men , Wolverine, moves through the levels and destroys enemies; at the end of the levels he meets with the bosses . At the same time, in the version for SNES, the hero must look for the so-called “keys” - special items without which it is impossible to complete the level, and in the version for Sega there are logical elements (for example, you need to find a switch to turn on the elevator and get to an inaccessible platform) .

A character can attack enemies with claws; there is also presented a “healing factor” that allows it to recover from enemy attacks.

Enemies in the game - a variety of robots, armed guards, etc.

Ratings

The game met fairly cool critics.

The Game Players magazine rated the Sega version 85 out of 100 points. At the same time, the EGM and GamePro magazines rated the same version 4.3 out of 10 and 2 out of 5, and the Sega 16.com information site 3 out of 10 [3] .
