The eldest son of Jean III the Lame D'Arcourt (d. 1329 ), Baron d'Arcourt and Viscount de Saint-Sauveur-Le-Viscount, and Alice (d. 1315 ), daughter of Gottfried van Brabant, Senor de Arshot.
Biography
In May 1328, he was present at Reims during the coronation of the French king Philip VI Valois , then in August of the same year he participated in the defeat of the Flemish rebels by the French army in the battle of Kassel.
In November 1329, after the death of his father, Jean IV d'Arcourt inherited the baronetry of d'Arcourt and other tribal lords. In March 1330 he became the first Earl of d'Arcourt.
Since 1345 - captain of Normandy. August 26, 1346 fought with the ranks of the French army in the battle with the British at Crescy . He died in this battle.

In 1315 he married Isabella de Parthene, a lady de Vibray, daughter of Jean Larshevek, Senor de Parthene. Children:
