Initial Biography

Yusif Mirza oglu Abdullaev was born on December 31, 1902 in Baku.

Military Service

Pre-war time

In July 1920, he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and sent to study at the Azerbaijan Combined Military School, whose cadet from January to May 1921 took part in the fight against banditry in Azerbaijan . After graduation, he was sent to the Azerbaijan Combined Rifle Division , where he served as commander of a platoon of an artillery battalion, chief of communications of a battery of an artillery regiment, head of a regimental school of an artillery regiment, commander of a platoon of an anti-aircraft battalion and commander of a battery of an artillery regiment.

In October 1923, Abdullaev was sent to study in repeated advanced training courses for commanding officers, which he graduated in 1926 , and from October 1925 to April 1926 he studied in advanced training courses for command personnel of anti-aircraft artillery.

In 1926 he joined the ranks of the CPSU (b) .

Since 1930, he studied at the MV Frunze Military Academy , after which he was appointed in June 1933 to the post of chief of the border intelligence point, and in October 1938 - to the post of deputy chief of the intelligence department of the Central Asian military district headquarters.

In 1938, Abdullaev was awarded the medal "XX years of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . "

In December 1939 he was sent to study at the Academy of the General Staff , which he graduated in 1941 .

World War II

In July 1941, Lieutenant Colonel Abdullaev was placed at the disposal of the Military Council of the North-Western Front , where he was soon appointed to the post of chief of the 3rd division of the intelligence department, then to the post of assistant chief of the intelligence department for personnel of the front headquarters, and in October to the post of chief intelligence department of the Novgorod Army Task Force , and then to the post of chief of the operational department of the headquarters of the 34th Army , which participated in the Demian offensive operations of 1942 and 1943 . In March and August 1943, the army made two offensive attempts to defeat the old Russian enemy group and capture Staraya Russa . In a combat situation, while taking possession of the city, Abdullaev could not cover the amount of work of the army’s operational department headed by him in organizing the timely completion of tasks. As a result, on June 23, 1943, Abdullaev was removed from his post and placed at the disposal of the Military Council of the Front, and on August 17, 1943 he was appointed to the post of chief of staff of the 96th Rifle Corps , which until October was subordinate to the commander of the North-Western Front.

In October, he was appointed chief of staff of the 34th Army, and in December - the 6th Guards Army , which led the defense in the Nevel region. From December 16 to 20, 1943, from December 25, 1943 to January 8, 1944, and from February 4 to 15, 1944, Colonel Abdullaev temporarily served as commander of the 96th Rifle Corps , led combat operations to defeat the Nevel group of the enemy. For excellent actions, Colonel Yusif Mirza oglu Abdullaev was awarded the Order of the Red Banner [1] .

In August 1944, Abdullaev was again awarded the Order of the Red Banner for excellent actions [2] .

In October 1944, he was appointed commander of the 38th Guards Rifle Division , which took part in the course of East Prussian , East Pomeranian and Berlin offensive operations . The division under the command of Abdullaev crossed the Vistula northwest of the city of Bromberg ( Bydgoszcz ), and also participated in the liquidation of the Danzig group of the enemy to liberate the city of Gdynia , battles near Warsaw and Pomerania . On April 20, 1945, Colonel Abdullaev was appointed deputy commander of the 114th Rifle Corps , soon due to illness of the commander of the 160th Rifle Division, he was appointed commander of this division, after which he continued to take part in the battles for the Oder . He finished the war on May 8, 1945 in the vicinity of the city of Wismar on the Elba River. Yusif Mirza oglu Abdullayev was awarded the orders of Suvorov of the 2nd degree and Kutuzov of the 2nd degree for the skillful leadership of the fighting of the division [3] .

Post-War Career

With the end of the war, Colonel Abdullaev was in the 29th separate regiment of the reserve officers ( Group of Soviet Forces in Germany ), and since September 1945 - at the disposal of the GUK NPO . Soon he was appointed commander of the 402nd and 216th rifle divisions in the Baku and Belarusian military districts .

Since May 1948, he was at the disposal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, and from June - the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan SSR in connection with the appointment of the chairman of the Republican Committee of DOSAAF .

Colonel Yusif Mirza oglu Abdullaev left the reserve in March 1954 . He died on May 11, 1979 in Baku.
