Biography
Nikolai Zhukov was born on August 1, 1920 in the village of Bolshevo (now - within the city of Korolev, Moscow Region ). He received an incomplete secondary education, after which he worked as a mechanic at a factory. In 1939, Zhukov was called up for service in the USSR Navy. He graduated from the weapons school of the training unit of the Baltic Fleet . Since 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. By October 1944, the senior sailor Nikolai Zhukov was the commanding officer of the BK-510 armored boat division of the armored battalion division of the Baltic Fleet skerry ships brigade [1] .
On the night of October 30–31, 1944, when the armored boat, whose crew included Zhukov, was blown up by a mine upon returning from the patrol, the team began to close up the holes. The crew managed to save the boat from flooding, but he lost control, as a result of which he began to be carried to another mine. Zhukov threw himself into ice water and towed a mine from the boat’s trajectory [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 20, 1945 for "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown", the senior sailor Nikolai Zhukov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 2923 [1] .
In 1947, with the rank of foreman of the 2nd article, Zhukov was demobilized. He returned to Kaliningrad (now Korolev, Moscow Region), worked as a foreman at one of the city enterprises. He died on May 27, 1984, was buried at the Bolshevsky Korolev cemetery [1] .
He was also awarded a number of medals [1] .
The monument to Zhukov was erected in Baltiysk , the ship was named in his honor [1] .
