Bazanite ( dr. Greek. Basanos - donkey ) - the main rock, similar to basalt , but different from it with a high content of sodium and potassium.
Name Appears
The name basanite was introduced by Alexander Broniard in 1813 to refer to black fine-grained basalts. Fritsch & Reiss (1868) extended this name to the dark alkaline volcanics of the Canary Islands , from where the basanites entered the petrographic and petrological literature.
Types of Basanites
Depending on the content of nepheline or analcime, all basanites are divided into:
