Evandro Agazzi [1] ( Italian: Evandro Agazzi ; born October 23, 1934 , Bergamo ) is an Italian philosopher and professor at the University of Genoa . His areas of interest include ethics of science and technology , logic , metaphysics , philosophy of language , philosophy of science , philosophical anthropology , and systems theory .

Content

Education

He graduated from the University of Milan with a degree in physics and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart , where he received a Ph.D. in philosophy from 1957. He also published his thesis in Oxford and at the Universities of Marburg and Münster .

Teaching

Agazzi taught mathematics in Genoa, philosophy of science and mathematical logic at the Catholic University of Milan. He was promoted to professor in the philosophy of science in Genoa in 1970. He became a leading specialist in philosophical anthropology, philosophy of nature and philosophy of science at the University of Friborg in 1979. He worked as a visiting professor at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, at the University of Berlin , at the University of Pittsburgh , at Stanford University , at the University of Geneva and other educational institutions.

Organizations

President of the International Academy of Philosophy of Science, Honorary President of the International Federation of Philosophical Communities and the International Institute of Philosophy. He was president of the Italian Society of Logic and Philosophy of Science, the Italian Philosophical Society and the Swiss Society of Logic and Philosophy of Science. He was also the treasurer of the UNESCO International Council for Philosophy and Humanities. He was also a member of the Italian National Committee on Bioethics.
