Biography

He studied at the Kazan gymnasium and in 1805, when Kazan University was founded, was transferred to students. As early as July 1806, I. F. Yakovkin reported to the council that, under his leadership, Kondyrev “with every possible diligence and success” was engaged in compiling “the most complete statistics of the Russian state”; On February 6, 1807, Kondyrev presented his “Brief outline of the statistics of the Russian state” in manuscript and on February 14 he was awarded the degree of candidate - the first at Kazan University. Then, with the permission of the trustee, he was appointed assistant librarian.

From April 1807, Kondyrev already lectured on general history, geography and statistics, under the direction of Yakovkin. According to the custom of the time, Kondyrev read lectures on foreign printed works — he chose the works of Yakovkin; this alone indicates that his mental outlook and scientific interests were not very broad. He stayed that way in all his activities, differing for that with extreme obsequiousness before the authorities in general, in particular, before Yakovkin, which ensured his career. S. Ya. Rumovsky , the then trustee of the Kazan school district and the university, despite the strengthened recommendations of Kondyrev on the part of Yakovkin, rejected printing at the expense of the university of his "statistics", as Yakovkin was very worried about. Rumovsky wrote to Yakovkin that young people should not only strive for a scientific degree, but work and above all - properly master the Latin language, while Kondyrev, returning his manuscript, he sent shortly before the published work of E. F. Zyablovsky “Statistical Description of the Russian Empire ". However, in March 1809, at the request of Yakovkin, Rumovsky nevertheless proposed the council to raise Kondyrev to a master ’s degree . In 1811 he became an adjunct , in 1814 - an extraordinary professor , in 1820 - an ordinary one .

He did not leave the independent works of P. S. Kondyrev; published only a translation from German: “ Sartorius , The Initial Foundations of National Wealth and State Economy, Following the Theory of A. Smith”, (Kazan, 1812) and Snell “The Initial Course of Philosophy” (together with A. A. Lubkin, Kazan, 1813); according to the book of Sartorius, he invariably read his course. In addition, he published the 3rd edition of “The Wandering of Philip Efremov in the Kyrgyz Steppe” (Kazan, 1811), adding to the words of the author a description of his adventures, already published in 1786 and 1790. At the University Council, Kondyrev has always been a zealous supporter of Yakovkin, especially in those clashes that he had with more prominent professors. Kondyrev took an active part in the Kazan Society of Lovers of Literature, where he made several speeches and acted as secretary; participated in the committee that published (since 1811) "Kazan News".
