Narrow-necked form a special class of bryozoans, whose representatives live exclusively in salty waters. Currently, it is represented by only one unit of Cyclostomatida . First recorded in sediments of the Lower Ordovician period , about 488 million years ago. In the time from Ordovician to Perm, there were several more orders of narrow-necked. The surviving detachment of these animals includes about 175 different species. The narrowest were most widespread in the Cretaceous period .
Content
Building
The cystids of these animals are elongated, cylindrical and pointed at the back. Open pores on the bodies of neighboring organisms create the possibility of metabolism between them. In narrow-necked people, there is no muscle. The development and gestation of eggs occurs in gonozooids.
Classification
As of August 2019, 7 units are included in the class, of which 6 are extinct [1] :
- † Order Cryptostomida (Ordovician - Perm)
- Order Cyclostomatida (since the Ordovician period)
- † Order Cystoporida (Ordovician - Perm)
- † Squad Esthonioporata (Ordovician-Carbon)
- † Squad Fenestrida (Ordovician-Perm)
- † Order Melicerititida (Cretaceous - Paleogene)
- † Order Trepostomatida (Ordovician - Triassic)
