Phitsanulok ( Thai. พิษณุโลก ) - a city in the northern part of Thailand , the administrative center of the province of the same name . Located 377 kilometers from Bangkok [1] . The area is 18.26 km², the population is 84,311 people as estimated in 2010. The climate is tropical, the monsoon season lasts from May to October.

Phitsanulok is one of the oldest cities in Thailand, founded over 600 years ago. During the late Angkor Empire, it was one of its largest provincial cities. It is considered the birthplace of King Naresuan , who liberated Siam from Burmese rule at the end of the 16th century. For 25 years during the reign of King Boromotrailokanat was the capital of the country.
There are no large industrial enterprises in the city, but two universities are located, as well as a large military base of the Thai army.
