Satiny Volost

Satinsky parish ( Latvian. Sātiņu pagasts ) is a former territorial unit in the southern part of the Kuldīga county of Latvia . It was located in the south-west of the republic, in the historical region of Kurzeme . The administration of the parish until 1949 was located in the village of Cecil . In 1940, it bordered on the city of Saldus , the Tsiatskaya , Zvardskaya , Kursishskaya , Pampala , Skrunda , Lutrin and Saldus volosts of its county.

The largest townships of the parish were the villages of Cecilia, Satiini, Ubeli that were not preserved to this day.

History

On November 2, 1945, Novadnieki and Satin rural councils were formed on the territory of the volost. After the abolition of the Satinsky parish on December 31, 1949, they were incorporated into the Saldussky district [1] .

Nowadays, the territory of the former Satinsky volost is distributed between the Novadniki and Zirna volosts of the Saldus region [1] .

Famous People

  • Lea Davydova-Medene (1921–1986) is a Latvian sculptor.
