Biography
Born on November 9, 1965 in Karaganda in a large family of a miner.
He graduated from an eight-year school and technical school in his hometown.
In 1984-1986 he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army .
In 1986-1990 he studied at the Moscow Theological Seminary .
In 1988 he was accepted into the brotherhood of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra .
On July 3 of the same year, the governor of the Lavra, Archimandrite Alexy (Kutepov), was tonsured a monk.
On July 18 of that year, Metropolitan Chisinau and Moldavian Serapion (Fadeev) was ordained to the rank of Hierodeacon .
In 1990 he graduated from the Moscow Theological Seminary and entered the Moscow Theological Academy , which he graduated in 1994 with the title of candidate of theological sciences.
On June 11, 1995, he was ordained a hieromonk by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II and sent to the village of Divnomorskoye in the city of Gelendzhik to organize the monastery of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra there.
Initially, services for a few parishioners were held in a cramped room, located next to the beautification enterprise. The funds allocated to the rector of the Compound on the road quickly ran out. The priest had to live in Spartan conditions. Both the rural community and the resort administration came to the rescue. Soon, the first stone was laid on the site of the future temple in a rural wasteland [1] .
In 1997, Patriarch Alexy II was appointed rector of the Patriarchal Compound of the city of Gelendzhik.
In 1999, he was awarded the right to wear a plait .
In 2002, he was awarded the right to wear a pectoral cross.
The construction of the St. Sergius Church was completed in the fall of 2004 [2] .
On June 16, 2005, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II performed the great consecration of the church in the name of St. Sergius of Radonezh on the Gelendzhik Metochion of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra in the village of Divnomorsk, after which he elevated the head priest of the church, Hieromonk Feognost (Dmitriev), to the rank of hegumen [2] .
June 6, 2012 was awarded the right to wear a cross with ornaments [3] .

March 12, 2013 by the decision of the Holy Synod was elected bishop of Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik [4] .
On March 14, 2013, the lower church in honor of the Transfiguration of the Cathedral of the Cathedral Church of Christ the Savior of the city of Moscow, Patriarch Kirill was elevated to the rank of archimandrite [5] .
March 29, 2013 in the Throne Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior of Moscow was named bishop of Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik. [6] .
April 14, 2013 for the liturgy in the Theotokos-Nativity Monastery in Moscow, he was consecrated bishop of Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik. The consecration was performed by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill , the Metropolitan of Saransk and Mordovia Barsanuphius (Sudakov) , the Metropolitan of Yekaterinodar and Kuban Isidor (Kirichenko) , the Archbishop of Istra Arseny (Epifanov) , the Archbishop of Sergiev Posadsky Theologne ( Maxim ) Bognost (Gognostus) (Baptist) Dmitriev) , Bishop of Maikop and Adygea Tikhon (Lobkovsky) , Bishop of Solnechnogorsk Sergius (Chashin) , Bishop of Yeisk and Timashevsky German (Kamalov) [7]
From November 17 to 28, 2014, in Moscow, he attended a two-week continuing education course for new bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church [8] [9] .
