Kurlad - a lake located near the city of Kopeisk [1] in the Krasnoarmeysky district of the Chelyabinsk region . Administratively refers to both municipalities. Located at an altitude of 184 m above sea level [1] .

Large freshwater reservoir. The area of the lake can fluctuate greatly (reaching 90 km 2 in high-water years) and depends on the level of filling of the reservoir, and the area of the rafts , as well as silty and sandy banks, respectively. It is used for discharge of wastewater Kopeysk.
The lake is of great importance for nesting waterfowl [2] . Nesting great cormorants and pelicans were observed. Mass accumulations of grebes , coots , diving ducks and gulls . This territory is of international importance for the conservation of nests of the black-necked grebes , curly pelicans , stilt , silver mackerel and small gull , as well as a place of concentration during migratory movements and the autumn migration of waterfowl. The Russian Bird Conservation Union included the lake in the Key Ornithological Territories Program (WBDB) under the number CHL-004 [3] .
The user is Chelyabinsk Fish Farm OJSC.
