Akkol ( Kazakh. Aқkөl ) is a village in the Balkhash district of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan . The administrative center of the Akkol rural district. The KATO code is 193637100 [2] .

Population
In 1999, the village population was 759 people (392 men and 367 women) [3] . According to the 2009 census , 583 people lived in the village (306 men and 277 women) [3] .
History
Since April 1929, Akkol was the regional center of the Balkhash region. In April 1930, the inhabitants of the surrounding villages raised a rebellion , during which Akkol was captured and state institutions were defeated. The uprising was relatively quickly suppressed. However, exactly one year later there was another uprising, after which the district administration moved to Bakanas .
