Biography
Vladimir Nurov was born on January 1, 1938 in the Khoton Bug of the Priyutnensky ulus (now the village of Uldyuchiny , the Priyutnensky district ) of the Kalmyk ASSR.
The childhood and adolescence of the future poet coincided with the war and the forcible deportation of the Kalmyk people to Siberia . Childhood passed in the timber industry farm of the Znamensky district of the Omsk region . In his youth, he lived in the village of Zavodo-Petrovsk in the Yalutorovsky District of the Tyumen Region , worked as a tractor driver, lumberjack, and a glass factory worker. [one]
In 1968 he graduated with honors from the Kalmyk Pedagogical Institute.
He worked as director of the Kalmyk Book Publishing House , editor-in-chief of the magazine "Teegin Girl" , led the Union of Writers of Kalmykia, and was director of the Kalmyk Radio.
In 1975, Nurov was admitted to the Union of Writers of the USSR .
He worked in the editorial office of the republican newspaper Halmg Onn .
Creativity
The first poems of the poet were published in the newspaper Halmg Onn in 1959. In 1971, the poetry’s first collection of poems “White Wish” (in Kalmyk language ) was published . Since then, the poet has published more than thirty books in Kalmyk and Russian: “The Solar Well”, “The Bright Image”, “The Root of Life”, “The Taste of the Spring”, “The Years Bitten by the Bit,” “Give Joy”, “Father's Home”, "Brighter than the stars" and others.
The works of Nurov are translated into many languages of the world and published in different countries. Many poems were translated by famous Russian poets Semyon Lipkin , Julia Neumann , Rimma Kazakova , Vladimir Kostrov . [one]

- People's poet of Kalmykia (1998).
- Honored Worker of Culture of Kalmykia.
- Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation.
- For the creation of the cycle “Altn Kassar әzgn olnav ...” published by the magazine “ Teegin Girl ” in 2007, the poet was awarded the Nomto Ochirov Prize of the Republic of Kalmykia.
- In 2009, he won the A. S. Griboedov Prize.
- On February 14, 2013, the poet was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the Republic of Kalmykia.
