Efim Afanasyevich Zhdanov ( 1912 - 1949 ) - senior lieutenant of the Soviet Army , participant in the Great Patriotic War , Hero of the Soviet Union ( 1943 ).

Biography
Efim Zhdanov was born on January 7, 1912 in the village of Kolpashevo of the Ket volost of the Tomsk district [1] (now - a city in the Tomsk region ). Received primary education.
In 1934 - 1937 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In January 1942, Zhdanov was again drafted into the army. Since March 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War . By September 1943, Lieutenant Efim Zhdanov commanded a foot reconnaissance platoon of the 267th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 89th Guards Rifle Division of the 37th Army of the Steppe Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [2] .
On September 29, 1943, Zhdanov with the advance group crossed the Dnieper in the area of the village of Celebird of the Kremenchug district of the Poltava region of the Ukrainian SSR and took an active part in the seizure of the bridgehead on its western shore. Having captured several artillery guns and machine guns, the group successfully repulsed several German counterattacks, knocking out the tank, crushing four machine-gun points and destroying about two platoons of German infantry [2] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 20, 1943, for “exemplary execution of the combat missions of the command at the front of the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard, Lieutenant Yefim Zhdanov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Gold medal Star ” under number 1451 [2] .
In 1947, with the rank of senior lieutenant's guard, Yefim Zhdanov was fired. He returned to Kolpashevo , worked at a power plant. Drowned in the line of duty on July 30, 1949. [2]
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and a number of medals [2] .
In honor of Zhdanov, a street was named and a bust was installed in Kolpashevo [2] .
