Geographical position
The city is located in the central part of the province, on the banks of the Yom River, approximately 475 kilometers north-north-west (NNW) from the capital city of Bangkok . The absolute height is 159 meters above sea level [1] .

Population
According to the 2000 census, the population of the city was 40,059 people [2] .
Economy and Transport
The basis of the economy is timber harvesting, as well as agricultural production. Rice and tobacco are cultivated in the vicinity of the city [3] . To the east of the city is the airport of the same name [1] .
