Club History
In 1909 , thanks to the joint efforts of the brothers I. and P. Koshelev and I. and F. Sutyrins, the Sturm and Standard teams were organized, which contributed to the appearance of other cities in the following years (1910-1912) football teams. [3] The composition of these two teams, which can be considered the ancestors of the Metallurg team, included plant employees and studying youth - children of employees. In 1914, a football team was created at the French factory DUMO (now the factory Red October ). The workers of the Zhiltsov factory, the Koshelev brothers, Komov, Kurnosov, Kosenkov, Lebedinsky, Oparin, the brothers Surniny, Sutyrin, Titovsky, Yanas played in its composition. Under the leadership of Vladimir Petrovich Pankov , a football field was equipped near the entrance gates of the plant and regular trainings began to take place. [3] [2]
In 1916, a team was organized under the name “Republic” from among the youth, in which the Maltsevs, the Shevyakov brothers, Andrey Bod, Vladimir Raskan, Alexander Nesynov, Vasily Komov, V. Pankov, Konovalov, Nepodkosov, Rakov, Pashkov, Goryachev, Fisher played . A little later, another football team appeared, organized by prisoners of war by the Czechs after the First World War, among them were international-class players: Cowba, Kobernau, Kopeckiy, Stumpf and others. They coached the factory team, and very soon she became the winner of the national football championship among factory teams. [3] [5] [2]
It's time for the fate of the team players to be different. Foreigners after the October Revolution left for their homeland. The team captain Vasily Lebedinsky participated in the battles for Tsaritsyn , was the first secretary of the district committee of the Komsomol of the French and Cannon factories. In October 1918, the former extreme right, machine gunner Nikolai Sakharov, died near Bolshaya Ivanovka. [one]
On April 19, 1923, a football team was created at the Krasny Oktyabr factory. Its first composition included Alexander Nesynov, Pavel Kornienko, Alexander Fedyanin, Dmitry Manikhin, Stepan Voevodin, Vasily Komov, Valentin Shevlyakov, Alexey Maltsev, Sergey Chetaev, Nikolai Goryachev, Alexey Fisher. July 24, 1930 hosted the first international match with a team from Stalingrad. Red October met at home with a team of workers from Lower Austria . The meeting ended in defeat for the Stalingraders with a score of 0: 7. [6] [2]

In 1937, Metallurg made its debut in the USSR Championship . In group “D” the team takes 5th place.
On May 24, 1937, metallurgists played their only match in the history of the main draw of the USSR Cup against an opponent from Group B, the Moscow Torpedo . After the first half, Metallurg sensationally led 2-0, but still lost in extra time. [9]
In 1957, Metallurg became the champion of the RSFSR .
In 1958, steelworkers took 12th place in the 4th zone of class “B” .
In 1961, Metallurg, who became the winner of the regional championship , held two transitional games against the Volga Energy , in which he won by the total number of matches (3: 2 and 1: 1). Thus, Energia was supposed to cede its place in Class B to Metallurg, but by the decision of the Stalingrad Regional Council of Sports Societies dated November 10, 1961, the games were recognized as friendly.
