Along with Soft Machine , Caravan is a leading representative of the Canterbury scene , combining elements of psychedelic rock , jazz , classical and English folk music .

Recognition

According to Allmusic , the album is widely recognized as the pinnacle of Caravan .

In the special edition of Q and Mojo magazines, “Pink Floyd and the History of Prog-Rock,” the album ranks 19th in the list of “40 Space Rock Albums” [1] .

According to a survey by Progarchives.com as of August 2013, the album tops the ranking of the best albums of the Canterbury scene [2] .
