Biography

P. Ryumkorf was the illegitimate son of the pastor's daughter, teacher Elizabeth Ryumkorf. He grew up and graduated from high school in the city of Stade. In 1951-1957 he studied pedagogy, German studies, art history and psychology at the University of Hamburg . Due to a conflict with teachers, I was forced to leave the university without completing the course.

Engaged in samizdat; together with the poet and essayist Werner Riegel, in 1951-1956 (up to the death of the latter), P. Ryumkorf printed on a hectograph a literary magazine Between Wars (Zwischen den Kriegen) , which became an important critical review of the post-war years. Ryumkorf was the founder and one of the main authors of the magazine "Concrete" (later - "Student Courier"), who became the mouthpiece of the young progressive creative intelligentsia of Germany. In 1958–1964, the writer worked for the publishing house Rovolt (Rowohlt Verlag). Then he is a freelance writer and poet living in Hamburg. Creativity

Since the 1950s, P. Ryumkorf is known for his works in the field of literary criticism, in which he examines the problems of modern literature, primarily poetry, as well as cultural and social life. His writings are controversial, witty and carefully argued, essays and public speeches present the author as the heir of the Enlightenment , a fighter for the all-round development of modern poetry and at the same time for solving political issues, in particular for the rights of the individual in post-Nazi Germany. P. Ryumkorf tries to translate the principles proclaimed in his critical works into poetic works. Speaking to the creative heir of G. Heine as a lyricist, he demonstrates artistic mastery of the language, creates unexpected rhymes, shines with wit and the play of thought. In the press, the poet gets the nicknames "cheerful Enlightener" and "Artist of a folk song," which tells the reader "enlightened tales" about modernity.
