Biography
He was born on October 26 ( November 8 ), 1917 in the village of Bobriki, Mtsensk Uyezd, Orel Province [1] . In 1934 he graduated from 7 classes of a school in the city of Mtsensk , in 1937 - 3 courses of the Moscow Aviation College.
In the army since August 1937. In 1940 he graduated from the Engels Military Aviation School of Pilots, until June 1941 he was a pilot instructor in it. In 1941-1942 - pilot instructor of the 6th military aviation school of primary training for pilots (the city of Voronezh ). In 1943 he graduated from the Higher Flight Training Courses of the Civil Air Fleet ( Tashkent city).
Member of the Great Patriotic War : in May 1943 - May 1945 - ship commander of the 2nd Transport Aviation Regiment. During the war, made a 561 take-off on a Li-2 plane to deliver goods and personnel to the front line.
After the war he continued his service in military transport aviation; was the commander of the ship in the 2nd Special Purpose Air Division, which transported the high command of the army.
In the spring of 1948, as the commander of the S-47 transport aircraft, he participated in the North-2 high-latitude expedition, the purpose of which was to search and study ice airfields for fighters and bombers. Repeatedly made flights with landings in the region of the North Pole .
For the courage and heroism shown in the high-latitude expedition, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated December 6, 1949, Captain Makarov Dmitry Alekseevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal .
He continued his service in military transport aviation; He was the commander of the ship, the commander of the air squadron and the deputy commander of the air regiment in the 2nd Special Purpose Air Division. Since July 1960, Colonel D. A. Makarov - in stock.
He worked as a teacher in the 24th training unit of the Polar Aviation Administration (1960-1970) and the 18th training unit of the Central Office of International Air Communications (1970-1978).
