Adalbert II is the son and successor of Count Eziko von Ballenstedt . In 1063, he is referred to as the Earl of Nordturinggau , later in Zerimuntgau and Nitzitsigau .
In 1069, Adalbert, in alliance with the Saxon Margrave Dady II, rebelled against Emperor Henry IV . The reason for the uprising was a dispute over the legacy of the Meissen Margrave Otton I of Weimar , who left only his daughters, one of whom was married to Dedi. The emperor, learning about the intentions of Dedi, gathered an army and opposed the rebellious vassals, as a result of which Dedi and Adalbert were captured and were detained, from where they were released only after some time.
In 1073, Adalbert joined the Saxon rebellion of Otton of Northheim against Emperor Henry IV. In 1075 he was imprisoned. He later supported Rudolf Schwabsky’s anticorol .
Between 1076 and 1083, Adalbert II was killed as a result of a quarrel with Egeno II von Konradsburg . The reasons for this murder are not clear.
