Biography
Augustin Belovsky was born in the village of Krekhovichi in 1806, now the Rozhniatovsky district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. In 1828, he entered the University of Lviv (Uniwersytecie Lwowskim). After the start of the Polish uprising in November 1830, he joined the Polish Army of the Kingdom of Congress, and after the failure of this action, he went to Galicia. In 1834, he was arrested by the Austrian authorities on charges of conspiracy and remained in custody for two years. In 1845 he began to participate in the activities of the Ossolinsk People's Library, and all its collections, and since 1869 he became director of this institute and editor-in-chief of the Ossolinsk Library.
