At the request of Pope Clement IV wrote a universal history - "Chronicle of Popes and Emperors" ( lat. Chronicon pontificum et imperatorum ), covering events from the time of Christ until 1277 and becoming one of the most popular historical works until the late Middle Ages, despite the mass of historical errors .
Martin Polyak was also the author of Sermones de tempore et de sanctis , Margarita Decreti and a collection of sermons.
It is believed that he also participated in the creation of Liber Pontificalis .
On June 22, 1278, on the recommendation of Pope Nicholas III, he was called to the post of Archbishop of Nesnesno .
After some delay in Italy, Martin Opavsky went to Poland , but on the way from Italy to Gniezno , he died in Bologna , and did not reach his homeland. Buried in Bologna in the Basilica of sv. Dominica.
