Biography
Marek Baranetsky was born on June 16, 1954 in the city of Gliwice. He graduated from the Silesian Polytechnic University. He worked as an environmental engineer. Since 1976, Marek Baranetsky has been published in student newspapers, led the student weekly newspaper Politechnik . In 1984, he quit his job and began to engage in literary activities.
Creativity
In 1983, Marek Baranetsky made his debut in the fantastic monthly magazine "Fantastyka" , where he published the story "Karlgoro godzina 18.00" , which was recognized as the best fantastic story of the magazine for 1983.
In 1985, Marek Baraniecky published a collection of short stories “Głowa Kasandry” . For the post-apocalyptic story “Głowa Kasandry” in 1986, Marek Baranetsky received a Janusz Seidel literary award . This story was sold in more than 150 thousand copies and was broadcast in parts in the 3rd Polish Radio Program. There was an attempt to film the story, but because of the censorship the shooting did not take place. After a long struggle for the adaptation of his story, Marek Baranetsky ceased to engage in literary activity and returned to his old work.
